Health Consultation – Combining Nutrition, Herbal Medicine and Ayurveda.

Nahid Ameen is a Certified Nutritional Practitioner, Ayurvedic Counselor, Aromatherapy enthusiast, and Herbalist-to-be. She believes in empowering people to take responsibility for their own health by balancing Body Type/Dosha with diet, nutrition, herbs, essential oils and by incorporating lifestyle changes. She incorporates her knowledge of both Eastern and Western holistic healing techniques when practicing with clients to understand the root cause of their condition.

As an Ayurvedic Counselor and Herbalist-to-be, I consider the person I am assisting not just the disease or health challenges. I believe each one of us has the energy to bring the body, mind, and spirit back to balance. Instead of focusing on single treatment or medicine to combat the health condition as a practitioner I concentrate on techniques that will strengthen the body and the mind.

Conditions I address are following

  • Hormonal Health – PMS, cysts, menopause etc.
  • Skin health – acne, eczema, rashes etc.
  • Headaches
  • Anxiety, Stress/Sleep

 About Ayurveda:

Ayurveda is a holistic healing system that guides us to live a healthy and balanced life. Ayurveda can be traced back to 5,000 years ago in India yet it is still applicable in supporting today’s lifestyle. Ayurveda focuses on food, lifestyle, yoga, and herbal remedies to suit our individual make-up.

Ayurveda suggests that there are three primary qualities or principles that govern every human body. These principles are called doshas, which are derived from the five elements: earth, air, water, fire, and space. The three primary doshas are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. It is the doshas that regulate all actions of the body. When the doshas are balanced, we experience good health, vitality, ease, strength, flexibility and emotional well-being. When the doshas fall out of balance, we experience energy loss, discomfort, pain, mental or emotional instability and, ultimately, disease.

When you visit an Ayurvedic practitioner or Nahid Ameen (Ayurvedic Counselor), be prepared to talk about your current and past health issues, work/life balance, exercise routine, daily diet, relationships, and your emotional state. Because Ayurveda emphasizes balance in all areas of your life.

About Western Herbal Medicine:

Herbal Medicine is the study of plants with medicinal properties to promote health and healing. It is one of the most ancient forms of healthcare practiced globally. Even Ayurveda promotes herbal medicine. Herbs are nature’s gift that provides nutrients and plant chemicals that are used to combat various ailments. A Clinical Herbalist in the West performs non-invasive health assessment, provides counseling, educates clients about herbal medicine and talks about using topical natural substances to promote healing.
